Pacific Hygiene is fully committed to reducing the impact on the environment of its operations. This commitment is applied locally, nationally and internationally while conducting business and in the development of new products and processes.

At Pacific Hygiene, our environmental goal is to aim for continuous improvement towards sustainability with a target of eliminating pollution and waste.

Pacific Hygiene's sustainability is doing business in a manner that contributes meaningfully to strong communities, to a healthy environment and to economic prosperity, now and into the future

Pacific Hygiene has recognised 3 key focus areas of environmental management and subsequent actions under each area.

» Company And Product Development

  • Strives to include environmental considerations in our planning processes.
  • Is committed to periodically conducting formal reviews of our activities to ensure compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Develops its products for optimum sustainability which are safe in their intended use, that are efficient in their consumption of energy and natural resources, and that can be recycled, reused, or disposed of safely.

  • Is committed to educate, train and motivate employees to conduct their activities in an environmentally responsible manner.

» Operations

Encouraging improvements in our practices to make them consistent with those of the Company and our suppliers.
Conducts all its operations in a manner that safeguards health, protects the environment and conserves valuable materials and resources.
Takes aggressive measures to minimise energy and other resource consumption through increased efficiency and conservation.

  • Double-sided paper printing is used as default
  • Files are stored electronically rather than printed.
  • Focus on gaining extended life cycles from vehicles and when upgrading moving to cleaner burning low energy use cars.
  • Energy-saving light bulbs are used throughout the premises
  • Air-conditioning is timer-controlled to ensure no unnecessary usage
  • Air-conditioning is turned off completely if weather permits
  • One-switch lighting is used to ensure lights can't be left on when the premises are empty
  • Regional Territory Managers are encouraged to work from home where feasible to avoid unnecessary vehicle use.
  • Storm water drains have been fitted with sump filters to ensure the quality of water entering the ocean.
  • Obsolete equipment is re-sold or donated to lengthen its lifecycle.
  • Half-flush toilet cisterns are used throughout
  • Consignments travelling short distances are half-wrapped rather than full wrapped conserving consumable usage.
  • Rechargeable electric forklifts are used in our warehouses
  • 600m² of native plants have been planted in the Head Office in Albany

» Waste Management

  • Pacific Hygiene Ltd makes every attempt to minimise waste.
  • Any waste that is created will be reduced, reused or recycled.
  • Any waste that does not fit into these categories will be disposed of through safe and responsible methods.

Examples of Pacific Hygiene's waste minimisation program are:

  • Batteries are collected and recycled
  • Office paper and cardboard is collected for recycling or composting
  • Cans, plastic and glass are collected for recycling
  • Biodegradable foodstuffs are composted
  • Used plastic dispensers are recycled
